Boog a domesticated grizzly bear meets Elliot a one horned dear and all hell breaks loose. Elliot introduces Boog to the outside world and chocolate bars which ends up getting Boog thrown out of his home. While Boog is drugged from tranquilizer darts Beth takes him to an area in the woods that is supposed to help keep him safe from the hunters and open season which is about to start but when Boog wakes up he is sure that his being left in the woods is a mistake and is determined to get home. Now he has to make his way through the forest and back to town without messing anything up or getting shot.

After reading critic reviews of this I wasn’t sure what to expect. Granted, like every other animated film it is predictable but I thought Sony Animation Studios did a phenomenal job with their first animated feature. It didn’t feel like anything I had watched before which is so unlikely in this day and age with Disney and Dreamworks competing with the same plot constantly.

4 stars
