Seems to me it was Jess who pointed it out correct me if I'm wrong but why do all Disney movies have characters/children as orphans or only one parent? Hubby and I started discussing it here is the list we came up so far that carries that theme let me know what we missed.
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Finding Nemo
Fox and the Hound
Beauty and the Beast
Pinnocihio
Lion King

Bambi (mom died at the beginning)
Aladdin (no parents at all)
Jasmine (only had he dad)
Chicken Little (he only had a Dad)
The Jungle Book (no parents)
Tarzan (his parents were killed)
Peter Pan (oprhan)
Dumbo (only mom)
Toy Story (notice we never saw or heard Andy's father)
Let's not even get started on their live action films, I think it's just the way they do things.

| Yeah, I agree... Disney's theme seems to focus on the struggles of characters that don't have a complete set of parents or a normal family. But if we notice, at the end, the protagonists always find ways to make it through. Great optimism!
