This one starts off with a young girl dying and her aunt investigating it. Suposdley you watch this movie then you get a phone call then so many hours later you die. She spent time tracking the movie and her son accedently watches the movie, so she has to get to the bottom of what and why the movie happens and all. It has some great scare factors and a few jump moments. Everything was great but the ending, hated it. Or maybe I just didn't get it all. They kind of lost me along the way. Definately weird.

I just watched this a few weeks ago. It was frightening which is what I love. As soon as it was over and ran out to return it and rent The Ring 2. Because I just had to see what was next.

If you liked this one, you should watch the Japanese version (which is the original version of the film) called Ringu. I think there are 4 Ringu's right now. The Japanese version runs shorter than the American version, but it'll be something fun to watch.

Have to agree with mr january the original japanese version Ringu is the superior version. Although getting the original japanese director to direct the american remake was a refreshing change.
I think the american version got the significance of the "ring" image on the cursed video wrong as well, the "ring" actually refers to the "ring" of your telephone after you've watched the video.

Holy Moly!  I never thought of the meaning of the ring that way (as the ring of your phone).  I thought the "ring" meant the circle of people you have to pass the movie on to so you won't die when you watch the movie.  Thanks for that info Brazenhead.

I thought the ring was like the ring of light that shown around the top of the well the mom put her girl in.

It is, but I'm thinking there's more than one meaning to the title.

^ lol.. me too, i was about to think that way. i only understand the title at the end of the story. The Ring meaning it was a cycle, a never ending process.

LOl, I guess there are plenty of reason you could use, I guess thats what makes the title to the movie great.

I agree. The Ring definitely scared the hell out of me when I watched it! It sent goosebumps all over my body. I  had that feeling that Sadako would come out of the TV whenever I turned it on...
