I have a soft spot for old science fiction movies. I just think they have more heart, even if the special effects are a bit cheesy by today's standards.
So one of my all-time favorites, a movie that I come back to over and over, especially on a Sunday afternoon, is "Robinson Crusoe on Mars"
Besides the fact that the Badlands where it was filmed look almost exactly like the Mars Rover photos, besides the fact that the lead character is very charismatic and personable, besides the fact that the movie offers some very interesting solutions to very real problems of living on Mars without warping science too much (It really is cold in the movie and there really is very little air) this movie has one thing that really rocks: A monkey!
He steals every scene too! Did I mention he has his own very cool little spacesuit? or that they have possibly some of the coolest alien ships in any film?

I've read that this is a classic movie from 1964....

Here's a bit of trivia about this movie...
" The Martian spacecraft are left-overs from The War of the Worlds (1953). Director Byron Haskin was involved in both projects, although George Pal is often given sole credit for the earlier classic."
