Nothing quite dashed my hopes more than the recent update of the original H.G.Wells classc, "The Time Mchine." The new  movie changed some things and gave the Traveler motive to travel.  That worked well.  The new time machine was a joy to behold and the time travel sequences well deserved the Academy Award for special effects.

Then everything went horribly wrong.  The Eloi were not innocent lambs.  The Morloks came out in the daylight, efectively ruining the whole Light/Dark symbology.  And the white Mutant?  Where the heck did he come from and why is he feeding the plot to the audience as if we are retarded six year olds?

Go back to the original.  There is a charm and substance to that movie that is sadly lacking in the update.  Weena is played by a shy, naive Yvette Mimiex, the world's first international supermodel.  Rod Taylor couldn't be more the brave hearted hero if he tried.  Absolutely perfect casting.  Even the beautiful matte paintings and time travel sequences hold up to this day.

Best of all, the story works!  Because they don't break my number one rule for making a classic book into a movie...

DON"T SCREW WITH THE PLOT!!!

There was a reason why the book was considered a classic!

I like the classic movie rather than the remake. Nothing beats the original, I guess...
