This movie is a can't miss.
If you see 2 movies this year I recommend seeing 2 movies about magic. This one and The Illusionist. Both are so well done that it is hard to tell you which one is better. So I will just say this - see them both!
The Prestige is a life long contest between 2 magicians trying to learn how the other did their tricks, continually escalating what they are doing to each other ongoing.
I was VERY impressed with the acting in this movie and Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale (American Psycho and the best Batman movie) and Michael Caine are superb in their different roles
What I like about both of these movies is that the ending is killer (literally and figuratively).
A must see (both movies are IMO)

But I can't tell you why this movie is science fiction without totally ruining it for you.
Plot - Two magicians are the best of friends until a tragic accident. After that they each continue their own careers, but with a vengeful eye to ruining the other's. The action escalates as each magician tries to top the act of the other until the movie reaches a fever pitch.
Along the way some wonderful behind the scenes looks gives away a few of the techniques of master magicians, without ruining the whole feeling of mystery too much.
Then the movie takes an entirely unexpected turn. See it for yourself, I'm not blowing it for you.
Actors - powerful performances by up and coming actors and veterans. Especially good is Christian Bale, as usual. A little lame is Scarlett Johannsen who really was a little out of her depth with two powerful male leads. Scarlett Johansson plays a sexy assistant, first to Robert and then Alfred. Everyone is focused on an illusion (The Transported Man) cooked up by electricity whiz Nikola Tesla (yes, that is David Bowie, and he's mesmerizing). Michael Caine steals all his scenes as Cutter, the insider who drops teasing hints about how every trick has three acts: the Pledge that draws you in, the Turn that moves you out of the ordinary and the Prestige, where you can't believe your eyes. Nolan directs the film exactly like a great trick, so you want to see it again the second it's over.
Special effects - realisitic and convincing. You know its a good movie when you say, 'what was that?!!" and can't wait to run the DVD back to see it again in slo-mo.
Up for two academy awards, you should see this one.

| Fantastic movie, I loved it. Personally, I had higher expectations for this movie, after seeing the Illusionist. But after seeing both of them, the Illusionist was just a bit better then the Prestige, in my opinion. The Illuionist was a lot easier to follow, and the Prestige can get you confused at times, especially when you are watching it the first time.

| What a mesmerizing movie, The Prestige (along with The Illusionist) is definitely a MUST SEE for all movie goers. The performances were phenomenal and the plot was gripping. i had high expectations for this film and was not let down in the least.. as far as which one is better I have no choice but to put The Illusionist & The Prestige on the same level 5 stars.

I still need to see The Illusionist
I totally agree The Prestige was an awesome movie, I had no expectations for the movie and to be honest really didn’t care if I saw it or not. I was bored and was like what the heck I might as well watch it. I was taken back at how much I enjoyed the movie, there was not a moment watching it that I felt like “man is it almost over“. It seemed like everytime I thought I knew everything that there was to know, something happened and my little theory about the movie was shattered. I really enjoyed the movie and can see myself watching this again very soon.

| I have recently seen The Prestige. It is such a great film in every sense of the word. Its twisted plot and climactic ending are superb.

| Jackman was fooled. He thought Bale's transported man was real.
