| Why call him r2d2? Why can't he talk? It's so irritating any time he 'says' something C3po has to stop and translate for everyone. Why didn't they just make him a talking character?

He is not made for human communications, his main purpose is to be able to communicate with machinery so thats what he does. 3PO's purpose is to translate.

| I like R2D2 the way he is. He's more fun and quirky without the ability to talk.

Nice question huh...your right if they make c3po to talk why wasn't r2d2??? maybe because the movie doesn't need c3po anymore if r2d2 can talk right???
