starring the ubiquitous terrance howard and the even more ubiquitous anthony anderson lol

very interesting movie about how to get music made,  a man with an obsession never gives up.  also starring anthony anderson and teraji p henson and that skinny kid from the new guy, who is reallly decent.

the movie tells the story of the development of a record from music in the mind of the artist (who is actually a really bad pimp in that he is loving and only pimps the girls to get money to make the record happen)... with a cameo by ludacirs (who takes a beating awfullly well lol) and a bunch of other people this movie is shot in the grainy style of the 70's and is easy and mellow for the most part.  Definitely a 70's or early 80's  look and feel so I wans't sure of when it was supposed to take place.

the song won best song oscar in 2006 and it was because of this movie.

Terrance Howard my future husband lol

We went to see this at the movies, I really didn’t care to much about it then but after we picked up the DVD and I watched it over I really enjoyed the movie. I just watched it again a couple days ago. If you look into the movie and beyond all the pimp stuff you get the message never give up your dreams even if everyone around you doubts you. I think the main character played by Terrance Howard knew that he was not really cut out for the pimp game and like you said used that as a method to get to his real dream of becoming a music artist. Terrance did an excellent job in the movie although the music didn’t really move me it was still ok and I ended up buying the soundtrack.
