In Superman Returns AKA Superman 5 to all of us older folks Superman returns to Earth and The Daily Planet 5 years after leaving to visiting the remains of his home planet Krypton. Upon his return he finds that Lois has won a Pulitzer for a piece named “Why the world doesn’t need Superman”, he also discovers that she has a live in boyfriend and a son. After a complete blackout of the town it is brought to Supermans/Clark Kent’s attention that due to him not being present for Lex Luthor’s appeal Lex is now roaming free sure to wreak havoc on the world once again.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started watching this film, I didn’t know if it was possible for anyone else to play Superman other than the late Christopher Reeve. I have to give Routh some credit for the role he took on, he is the new SUPERMAN, he did a wonderful job and within 10 minutes of watching I was thrilled with his portrayal. I’m not sure how to compare Bosworth’s performance to Kidder, Bosworth as Lois Lane seemed colder. Kevin Spacey did a fabulous job with Lex Luthor, I’m a huge Spacey fan BUT I didn’t understand why Hackman didn’t just reprise his role, he’s not old and it would have added a nice touch to it.

^yeah!... I loved this movie!.. this is one of my favorite movies for 2006 and one the movies I enjoyed most..

This movie, Superman Returns, was a lot better then I anticipated. The story is good, and the acting was above average. I think the problem was the expectations. Everyone expected Kate Bosworth to be exactly like Margot Kidder, which was unrealistic. Same with Brandon Routh and Christopher Reeves. This is a new Superman for a new generation. I don't think it is fair to compare these movies to the past movies.

| I have no choice but to compare the 2 since I grew up with the others and this was supposed to be part 5. I guess I would have expected Bosworth to be more likeable, she seemed so aloof. I gave them both a chance & I would say Routh nailed it, now if Bosworth would be just a bit warmer i'd be happy.
