This girl who was having a bad time and living in a trailor park went to a Winn-Dixie store one day where this dog was running a muck. She insisted the dog was hers when they asked the dogs name she looked at the store name and proudly said "Winn-Dixie".
Her and the dog go around town visiting people who have no friends, elderly that seem to be forgotten ect.. They make lots of friends. It is very heartwarming story and teaches us a lot.
