The more I see the trailers to this movie the more I want to see it. I normally dont get all excited for movies like this, but the trailers are killer and this is a must see for me. I can see the theater now already crowded with people.

OH. MY. GOD.
I just got home from the screening of 300. This movie was f'ing awesome.
As you may know, it's based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the 300 Spartans and their king who battle the enormous 30,000 army of the Persian Empire. Against all odds, the 300 brave Spartans defy the Persian king and fight to keep their people free.
The visuals of the film were stunning. Riddled with violence and gore, the story would be nothing without them. Almost all of the scenes were with blood splattering across the screen - almost literally. The CGI effects were so realistic, you almost felt the blood splattering across your face.
I don't know if it's because I saw the IMAX version but the colors were vibrant yet ethereal; fake yet real. The backgrounds were awesome, the effects outstanding.
Director Zack Snyder, as one of my writers put it, redeemed himself from his Dawn of the Dead remake. Gerard Butler and Lena Headey as the King and Queen of Sparta own. Their powerful portrayals of powerful people is wonderful. Their chemistry is definitely impressive. What is also impressive is the shear abundance of HARD BODIES. I'm sure the ladies, when not covering their eyes of all that gore, will be checking out the bodies of the cast. You have to be impressed by that alone.
Finally, the film does great justice to the Spartans. A strong people, they never back down and they never surrender. A dialogue between the Persian messenger and the Spartans still sticks in my head - "The thousand nations of Persia shall come down upon you. Their arrows shall blot out the sun." To which the Spartan solier replies, "So we shall fight in the shade."
If you're not into violence, blood and gore sit this movie out. That is the whole premise of the film. Snyder kept the other bits out that were not pertinent to the story (the montage of scenes during the lovemaking wasn't overdone. It was just right).
But if you're a fan of warfare, this movie is a must see. It's brutal and vibrant. A true visual masterpiece.

I also saw this, and I was less than impressed, It definately wasn't as good as I was expecting.
Granted, the fight scenes were amazing, brilliantly done, but I felt that was all that was good about the film, and could have been a whole lot better.
The plot was pretty hazy at times, and at some points I felt that what little plot there was, was only there for an excuse to make the fight scenes.
Most people here will probably dissagree with me, but I'd give the film a measly 4/10.
It was so lame, that they couldn't even get someone with real piercings to play Xerxes.

| I was impressed with the movie. But the storyline is not that good. What really impressed me are the battle scenes and the cinematography, with all those amazing use of sound technology.

| Wow, just got this and saw it, and it was amazing. This movie was just superb, and there was so much eye candy. Unbelievable scenes mixed in with a good story gets 4 out of 5 stars from me.

| I loved this movie! I was so anxious for ti to come out. I had to watch it like 3 times to finally understand what I thought was wrong with it, but when I understood what I didn't like, I could finally enjoy the movie at it's best!
