This is by far my favoritest movie of all time in any genre. Joe Don Baker plays Buford Pusser.
Buford Pusser is a wrestler and his wife is sick of it, so he quits finally and they head back home. His hometown is over run with all sorts of wrong doings. When they hit him up, it's time to strike back. He runs against the crooked sheriff and wins. But will cost him very very dearly. My favorite saying from Buford is "Walk softly and carry a big stick". He cleans up his town with his 4ft long wooden club.
They will make you fall in love with Buford Pusser from begining to end and never leave you without an emotional scene. It is great from start to finish. Joe Don Baker is an excelent actor! He does so great with this movie. I love every fight scene except where they cut him up in the begining and leave him for dead. That was the worst mistake they could have made, 'thinking he was dead and leaving".
I was not as thrilled with the sequels as I was with Joe Don Baker!
This was based on a true Sherif in Tennessee
