Ryan Gosling from The Notebook fame does a COMPLETELY different movie this time as a Crack addicted highschool teacher in an inner city school who has an even stranger relationship with a 12 year old girl, who seems to care about what happens to him after catching him smoking crack in the girls locker room after a basketball game.

This is not an easy movie to watch, but it is worth watching just to see Gosling's performance, which is deserving of the award nods he has been getting.

I'm not sure I understood the ending, but I guess there was not supposed to be any type of resolution or message. The movie was just a glimpse of a very messed up guy in a pretty bad situation that keeps getting worse.

I would recommend renting this movie, if just for his performance.

I liked it. I thought it was very well done.

I just watched Half Nelson last night for first time and I was very well pleased with it I also think Ryan did an excellent job. There were a few times during the movie where I had to really sit and just think about the movie itself and not pass judgment just yet. The movie has a very slow feel to it but the pace the movie takes is not really slow at all. Maybe I overlooked some key points in the movie but there are still a few things that were not clear to me and yes the ending was questionable. Not to the extent to say that I didn't understand it but it really didn't close out the movie just left something still open.
