Indian cinema is going global and winning acclaim the world over. In one such step, a film festival called Indian Splendor will introduce films from the Indian subcontinent to Hollywood and the city of Los Angeles.
Indian Splendor was launched in LA on 24th March this year. The festival opened with a special screening of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya – The Royal Guard, followed by a Question-Answer session with the director himself. The screening, attended by 300 people, took place at the prestigious Billy Wilder Theatre, as Eklavya – The Royal Guard made a mark as the first ever Indian film to be screened there.
The six-day film festival, initiated by the MGLOBAL Trust, will run in LA from 10th August to 15th August, marking the 60th anniversary of India’s independence. It will celebrate contemporary cinema which will also include several Bollywood films.
Indian Splendor is supported by Robert Rosen, Dean of the UCLA Film School and Bob Friedman, member of Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, USA. In their honour, a grand dinner will be held at Mumbai’s Hotel J W Marriot. This event will be attended by Bollywood’s glitterati including Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Nikhil Advani, Gulshan Grover, Pooja Bedi, Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi, Manmohan Shetty (Adlabs), Rahul Dholakia (Parzania), and Anees Bazmi.

| Very interesting. I wonder will they put out a few films for the rest of us in the western world to view? I have only seen Bollywood online, never in actual movies and such.
